Psalm 73:26/Thought for Today

I ran across a Bible verse today from a crochet blog I frequently look at: www.coffeencrafts.blogspot.com For some reason it really touched me, and I will write it here:

Psalm 73:26 reads: My health may fail and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. (New Living Bible)

That about sums it up right now.

Braided Rug find

Somewhere around 1996, before my husband got sick, I made braided rugs from wool fabric. I had taken a class from the Community College (twice) and enjoyed it a lot. I had made several, and my daughter even took about 6 of them back to Japan with her for Omiagi. Then, for some reason I put it all away. Probably was the year we spent in and out of the hospital. I never finished this rug, and now I can't remember how!! I've looked at my notebook, and have a very dim recollection as to how I did it, but........... I checked Yahoo groups and Ravelry groups, but no luck finding a group to help. I don't know anyone locally who still braids rugs. I have five trashcans full of wool fabric (in stinky mothballs!). If anyone out there braids wool rugs, and could lend a hand, I would be most appreciative!! I sure could use some advice!

Quilt along Top Done

I'm so pleased that the top is completed, and with the way it turned out! It is supposed to be in the 90's today, or I'd go ahead & quilt it. I am sorry for the quality of the photo. I'm afraid I'm not much of a photographer (or a package wrapper, as a matter of fact!). I tried to take it outside, but the wind is blowing and the top kept moving around. The family cat decided to be included, although she never likes to look at the camera! I had enough of the pink fabric left for the backing, but used all I had of the background fabric, so couldn't do the strips between blocks like we were supposed to. The pattern came from www.crazymomquilts.blogspot.com I am most happy & grateful to have been in this group of quilters. Thanks, Amandajean!

Colorful Prayer Shawl

I have started another type of Prayer Shawl that they were making at the meeting last Wednesday. I am using a different color for every stripe and it only takes a small amount of each color. It is basically 4 double crochets and a V-stitch (dc, ch1, dc). Just measure it to your own "wingspan" to start. It is fun, and I can't seem to put it down!! I'm not sure how the hospital will feel about this colorful shawl, as I have only given them solid color or varigated ones in the past. If the hospital doesn't want it, I know Hospice will, as that's where the idea came from.

New Photo of JunieBird!!

I just joined Plurk

What's it all about anyway? Sometimes I can be impulsive. But a couple of knitters of whom I know thru their blogs belong and are having fun, so I wanted to know what's it all about. I ended up joining before I knew what I was doing. My name on Plurk is JunieBird (an old nickname from a now departed friend). I have yet to figure out Ravelry, so hold out little hope for Plurk. Guess I'm just not "computer savvy", make that "computer illiterate". Well, at least I've got the Blog thing figured out (maybe).

I'm really bugged about this!

Recently, on a blog that I frequently look at there was a photo of a small lady wearing a XXXL men's shirt. It was supposed to be cute and funny. I wear a 3x in real life. I do not think this photo is cute or funny. In every heavy person, there is a skinny person screaming to get out!! I do not want to be large, I do not want to be hungry all the time, and I am NOT a glutton. The root of my weight problem is an allergy to corn, especially high fructose corn syrup, which is hidden in almost all canned/prepared foods these days! My feelings are hurt, big time, for everyone out there that has to silently put up with this kind of abuse and jokes. We who suffer in silence protest!

Hello Kitty!

I have always been a big fan of Hello Kitty! I even have a Hello Kitty dressed in kimono that my daughter sent me from Japan when she lived there. I'm not sure, but I think Hello Kitty is Japanese copyrighted. I just know that she has been a favorite of mine for quite awhile. Wish this kitten would be as good natured and sweet as Hello Kitty!! No new projects to show, the kitten doesn't let me get much done while she's awake (she is presently asleep next to my foot here at the computer!).

Prayer Shawl Ministry

This is a photo of me working on a Prayer Shawl at the Mountain Valley Hospice Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting. I "stole" the photo from my friend Tammy's blog (hope you don't mind Tammy). She asked me to visit with her at the meeting. I am a member of the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Volunteers (3 years now). It was fun to visit with Tammy's group, and I enjoyed it a lot. The shawl pattern I am working on is called "snapdragon" by Tish in Ohio.

Star Quilt, so far

Lacking space to stretch it out, I hung the quilt top in front of the window. It gave it an almost "crayon" appearance. Very odd. I am putting it together as the blocks are presented, and only have one more row to go (two more star blocks, I already have the other blocks made). I am pleased with it so far, and can't wait to get it quilted. It is from the star block of the week at www.crazymomquilts.blogspot.com

Totally Relaxed!

To sleep, perchance to dream.........boy I wish I could rest like that. She wears herself out being a holy terror and then collapses in the LaZBoy on her own bed and afghan. Dora grows overnight like corn, I do believe. Wish she would stop getting underfoot, as she gets stepped on 10 times a day! I am working on my third Prayer Shawl for the hospital (this week) and have several other projects going as well. It has been a busy week, so far!
