I have spent the last couple of days at my daughter's house. She had invited me to go with her to her last blacksmithing class and we had a good time. On the way to Floyd, VA we stopped at a yard sale and I bought my latest sheep. He was handmade in 1989 and my daughter suggested I name him "Floyd" because the yardsale was about half-way between Woolwine and Floyd, VA. I know you can't tell from the photo, but he is huge!! I don't think I'll take up blacksmithing, but I did enjoy the trip. It was a class through the Jacksonville Folk Art Center there. We also stopped at a Mennonite country store and bought bread and cheese and a very unique gingerale. It was one of those weekends that one records in their "memory book". and knits and crochets and looms and quilts and is always busy serving my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jesus said "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32

Glad you both had a great time! Good memories to treasure. Like the sheep. I have one like that but must not be as big. Like the name, one to remember the trip.
Love the sheep!!! I've been looking for a pattern for a sheep like that and have yet to find one. Lucky you for finding Floyd! I also like your spinning wheel. What kind do you have?
June, thanks for visiting my blog. It's a shame neither one of us have yet to find a pattern for Floyd. I've seen them done up with a quilt block needle-felted on the back.....like a blanket. Real cute!! I have four spinning wheels myself. Two Kromskis (a Prelude and a Sonata)....a little Hitchiker (my travel wheel), and a Clemes & Clemes that I use when doing demonstrations at the fair each year. It took me over a year to locate the Clemes & Clemes. They are pretty sought after....especially for being such "tanks"!!
Oh MY GOODNESS I made tons of those sheep in the 80's and sold them to many, my friend and I worked together we put dowels in the legs so they would stand and we used tons of stuffing. I don't have one of my own sold them all. Enjoy your find. I must see if I still have the pattern but if not will try to get a hold of my friend who has moved away.
Hi it is me again didn't find the pattern but here is what I found on the net.http://www.patternmart.com/pattern/700/Sheep+Pillow+Pattern+PM
