I have spent the last couple of days at my daughter's house. She had invited me to go with her to her last blacksmithing class and we had a good time. On the way to Floyd, VA we stopped at a yard sale and I bought my latest sheep. He was handmade in 1989 and my daughter suggested I name him "Floyd" because the yardsale was about half-way between Woolwine and Floyd, VA. I know you can't tell from the photo, but he is huge!! I don't think I'll take up blacksmithing, but I did enjoy the trip. It was a class through the Jacksonville Folk Art Center there. We also stopped at a Mennonite country store and bought bread and cheese and a very unique gingerale. It was one of those weekends that one records in their "memory book".
and knits and crochets and looms and quilts and is always busy serving my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jesus said "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32

Star Quiltalong Re-do
Here are all four blocks so far, plus a sample of the filler block, which I finished making over the weekend. I decided to re-do the blocks after the muslin I had begun with started curling. Just a bad bolt of muslin. Anyway, I am very pleased with the way this is going together, and look forward to getting a new block to work on every Monday. Thanks to Amanda at www.crazymomquilts.blogspot.com

Raggedy Annie
Erin at www.godoodlesnquilt.blogspot.com has begun a new business and website and is giving away this precious Blue-Check Annie. Go and visit her website and leave her a comment to be entered to win. I used to make the old-style Raggedy Ann's many years ago. Sometimes I'd have an order for 20 or more....hehe.......there would be arms & legs all over the place and I even had both my kids (both little at the time) involved. Even Mother would stuff legs for me!! Ah! Good memories. I love this Annie. It sure is tempting!!

Eight Mittens for Mittnz 2008
Here are the first eight (required) mittens for the Mittnz 2008 along. I used two sizes of knitting loom. The wood one is from Decoraccentsinc.com and the blue plastic one is from In the Attic. One rogue mitten (lower right) is hand knit! I have several obligations for charity knitting right now, and am glad to get these done. They will be mailed off in Sept. so I have time to get more done (later).

Summer of Socks 2008
Awhile back I joined the Summer of Socks 2008 at the blog www.zarzuelaknitsandcrochets.com/blog The official last day to join is today. I am going to make some acrylic sock yarn tube socks this summer. I have a real issue with heels wearing out, so have decided to stick to tube socks for awhile. I'm looking forward to doing these socks, as most of what I've worked on for awhile now is all quilting. I'm also doing some baby hats for the local hospital in my "brainless" times. Gotta keep busy!

Civil War quilt blocks
Just a few more Civil War Diary Quilt blocks that I finished while I was "off my feet". I did these all in one day! Guess I'm probably the only one of the group that is working on them that is doing them in solid colors?? Some of the more complicated ones I don't want to work on right now....maybe later. Hmmm. Do I see a mistake in the green/pink one at the bottom left? Must go & check it out.

Star quilt along 2 & 3 and helper-cat
Here is a photo of the Star quilt along blocks 2 and 3. I had to move the family cat three times to take the photo of the blocks!! She loves to help and always appears out of nowhere when there is a photo to be taken, and then runs before I can "click". Oh, by the way, my blood sugar is better now. I am having to read all labels on anything I eat for hidden "high fructose corn syrup". That stuff is in everything and it was making me eat like Garfield at a lasagna pan!! It seems bad luck comes in threes.......last Thursday I got an infected blister from a new pair of shoes, then Friday night I knocked a half full tea pitcher on my foot & broke my big toe. It is hard to put pressure on anything (like driving and my sewing machine pedal) but I'm determined to put all this behind me. I Thank God that it wasn't worse!!

Missing in Action, maybe
I've had a very bad time with my blood sugar these last few days. Ended up in the ER last night. Even though I have gotten loads accomplished lately, that is coming to a screeching halt. I feel like roadkill. I've been a diabetic for 8 years now, and really have not been behaving myself at all. Chocolate is my weakness! Well, this worn out body is saying "rest" and I don't have any choice but to obey. I would appreciate your prayers, please. As a famous actor once said, "I'll be back". <>< Trusting in Jesus!

Star Quilt along #1
This is the first block of the Star Quilt along from www.crazymomquilts.blogspot.com The fabric is from an older Fons and Porter collection from the early 90's. I thought it too "special" to use, but am more realistic these days. It would look better used than in the Rubbermaid box! I like the Civil War look of this fabric and really think that I am going to enjoy this Quilt along! I am using plain old muslin for the background. I think this quilt will definitely look "old" when it is completed. Many thanks to AmandaJean for hosting this quilt along!!

walmart quilt of month 5/04
Log Cabin top
Another "finish" yesterday. At least the blocks are completed. This one has been in the making for a couple of years. It turned out a bit smaller than I anticipated (30 blocks) but I am pleased with it. I'm thinking maybe a border or two might make it larger & more usable? Right now it is about 60" by 70". It is really hard to make myself get out there & get these tops machine quilted, as it is hard for me to stand up for very long, and also the weather has not been agreeable. I thank God for every phase of a project that I can complete, though. Rome wasn't built in a day.
